Sticks ‘n’ Sushi
Is located in Crossrail Place, in East London, underneath the New Garden in the middle of Canary Wharf. It is a Danish franchise making Japanese food for the past twenty two years.
Jens and Kim Rahbek along with Thor Andersen founded the chain blending half-Danish and half-Japanese origins to brand a new cuisine. Sticks ‘N’ Sushi is well-known across the Nordic region for its unique and quality food and service.
Making a tough choice from the very tempting menu I ordered a Chirashi and Sushi Rolls for myself. It was prepared by the chef per the order placement, fresh and very appetising. Chirashi has a good portion size, quite ample. It was a full bowl of finely cooked prawns, salmon, tuna and mackerel mixed some fresh and juicy avocado and certainly rice. It was nicely cooked and mixed well. The scattered sushi bowl was delicious.
The sushi rolls were equally fulfilling. They had used the barbeque sauce which added a very unique flavour, tasted really well. Rice and fish with avocado slices were bound into a roll. Basically, sushi wrapped in seaweed, commonly known as the Makizishi in its country of origin.

The garnished topping on the wraps was very attractive and tasted nice as well. They did not prepare the whole serving with one topping either, the diversity is quite inviting.
I tried the very much old fashioned 2 Marcel Chocolate Cake for dessert. One of which had some nuts making a small clustered topping in the centre. Cakes were just alright, an okay cake to find in London for that matter. They offer delicate creamy brûlée liquorice that is simply ambrosial.
Nowhere else but in Crossrail Place I found myself a coffee which is over the London standards.
Neither noisy nor low, the ambience of this place compliments the kind of food offered. The atmosphere is good with a simplistic setting, very spacious. It feels quite Japanese, the minimalistic interior of the restaurant with pretty indigenous woodcraft. It is quite natural in its setting, not a fancy and royal London dining room.
Customer care is a good restaurant’s plus package and this place has it. The waiting staff is cooperative which does make the atmosphere a little more relaxing. The chef prepares the food once the order is placed yet the serving time is quite good.
The Bill – What I paid
For high-quality sushi and grilled Japanese food mix, the prices are good on the pocket as well. Stick ‘N’ Sushi is the choice for fresh, healthy and exquisite Japanese fusion cuisine. I paid a not very hefty £62.77 for the main course, dessert and of course the coffee.
Overall it was a pleasant experience. Not only the fusion food is very good but the atmosphere and service are equally pleasing. I think the high quality of overall service is the reason for this chain’s fame across the Nordic Region. For me, it lived up to my expectations.
Some very delicious Japanese food is what I had wanted when I decided to dine at Sticks ‘N’ Sushi but the creamy liquorice was definitely the plus.
