Forum Marbella: The Golden Mile’s New Food Hall, Honestly Reviewed
I lived in Marbella for 3 years — not as a reviewer with a notebook, but as someone who needed lunch. Since Forum opened across from Puente Romano, I’ve been back to it more than any other single address on the Mile — for coffee before meetings, for dinner with friends, for the odd solo lunch when I couldn’t be bothered to drive further. This isn’t another listicle scraped from TripAdvisor. These are my honest notes on the seven spots inside Forum worth your time, and the couple I’ve learned to order carefully at.
The honest truth about Forum: it’s a genuinely beautiful space — restored Andalusian stonework, a courtyard fountain, Scandinavian restraint in the design — and it’s brought real quality to a stretch of the Mile that used to be all hotel restaurants and beach clubs. But it also charges Golden Mile prices, and a couple of its loudest tenants haven’t quite closed the gap between what they charge and what lands on the plate. This guide covers 7 places inside Forum, from an €8 cinnamon bun to a €129-a-head sushi tasting menu — so you spend your money in the right place.

Walk into Florentine and you understand the appeal immediately — marble everywhere, a mirrored staircase up to the rooftop, that theatrical 1970s-Italy energy they were clearly going for. It’s the biggest room in Forum by a distance, and on a warm evening with the terrace full, it’s genuinely one of the better atmospheres on the whole Golden Mile. I’ve had good nights here. The beef carpaccio with shaved truffle is the dish I keep going back for.
Where I have to be straight with you is on price. The signature pasta runs €32 before you even think about the €15 truffle add-on, a plain pizza starts at €26, and their caviar pizza is €92 — which, whatever the caviar, is a lot for a pizza. Portions haven’t always matched what’s on the bill, and I’ve had a couple of dishes arrive lukewarm on a busy night. Go for the room, the rooftop, and the carpaccio, and skip anything with a truffle or caviar supplement attached unless you’ve decided tonight’s the night to spend properly.
“Beautiful room, real theatre — but check what you’re ordering before it lands, because the supplements add up fast.”

What to Order
€50-90pp · €€€ · easily higher with wine and supplements
Beef carpaccio with shaved truffle · a plain Neapolitan pizza — skip the caviar one
Italian trattoria — handmade pasta, Neapolitan pizza, regional Italian ingredients
The truffle and caviar supplements — they’re where the bill runs away from you
Best For
Strengths & Watch Points
- The best room in Forum — marble, mirrors, real atmosphere
- Rooftop for drinks before or after is the biggest in Marbella
- The carpaccio is genuinely excellent
- Supplements inflate the bill quickly if you’re not watching
- Portions can feel small for what you’re paying
- Book ahead — it’s the loudest draw in Forum on weekends
This is my favourite seat in Forum, no contest. Sit at the bar, order the lobster roll and a glass of something cold, and just let the room happen around you. It’s small and it doesn’t try to be everything — a tight menu of oysters, ceviche, tartare and that lobster roll, which is honestly the best version I’ve had on the Costa del Sol. By evening the lights drop and it turns into something closer to a speakeasy, which suits the space perfectly.
The pricing is proper Golden Mile — a lobster roll is €35, the full seafood platter €75, and caviar starts at €35 for the smallest portion and climbs fast from there. I’ve had nights where the lobster portion felt a touch mean for the price, so go in knowing you’re paying for the room and the intimacy as much as the food itself.
“The most personal concept in Forum — sit at the bar, order the lobster roll, let the evening slow down.”
— JPLocation & Neighbourhood
What to Order
€50-90pp · €€€ · lobster roll €35, seafood platter €75, caviar from €35
Lobster Roll & Fries · wild-caught ceviche · oysters and a glass of something cold
Seafood, oysters, caviar, champagne — sharing plates, not a full tasting menu
The lobster portion can feel small at €35 — order an extra small plate if you’re hungry
Best For
Strengths & Watch Points
- The single most characterful venue in Forum
- Best lobster roll and cocktails in the complex
- Bar seating is genuinely romantic
- Small plates can feel light on portion for the price
- Lower-level room, no view — you’re there for the atmosphere
On its best night, Beast is the most exciting kitchen in Forum. Sit at the sushi counter, watch the chefs work, and the fish quality is obvious — this isn’t a generic hotel sushi menu, there’s real craft going into the rolls. I’ve had cocktails here that were as good as anything in Puerto Banús.
But I’ve also booked a table here and had my reservation not held, and I’ve paid €129 a head for a set menu on a night the room felt genuinely overcrowded for what it was designed to hold. This is the priciest dinner in Forum, and the least consistent. If you’re going, confirm your booking by phone the day before, and go with the expectation that the night could go either way.
“The sushi counter has real talent. Whether the night runs smoothly is a coin flip — confirm your table twice.”
— JPLocation & Neighbourhood
What to Order
€80-130pp · €€€€ · a set menu runs €129pp excluding drinks
“The Beast” signature roll · chicken gyoza · ask the sushi counter what’s freshest
Japanese/Asian-fusion — sushi, sashimi, dumplings, tempura, pan-Asian sharing plates
Confirm your reservation by phone close to the date — I’ve had a booking dropped before
Best For
Strengths & Watch Points
- Real talent at the sushi counter when it’s on form
- Cocktails consistently among the best in Forum
- The most inconsistent night out in Forum — good and bad nights both happen here
- Forum’s most expensive dinner by a distance
- Can feel cramped when the room is full
Planta is where I actually want to eat in Forum, not just where I go to be seen. It runs the full day — I’ve had shakshuka here on a lazy Sunday morning and the raw pad Thai on a Tuesday lunch, and both were properly good. It’s the one menu in the complex that genuinely works whether you’re vegan, eating meat, or somewhere in between — nobody at the table has to compromise.
Prices sit around €25-40pp, which in Forum terms is a bargain. The Sunday “Brunch y Burbujas” buffet — waffles, a matcha fountain, bubbly, bubble tea for the kids — has become my go-to when friends are visiting and I want somewhere relaxed rather than a production.
“If you want to actually taste your food and not just the bill, this is where I eat in Forum.”

What to Order
€25-40pp · €€ · the best value sit-down meal in Forum
Shakshuka at breakfast · raw pad Thai · corn ribs · the squid-ink bun burger
Health-forward, international, with a Peruvian influence in the kitchen
Double-check the bill — I’ve seen a tip added automatically before it’s been offered
Best For
Strengths & Watch Points
- Best value for money of any sit-down venue in Forum
- Genuinely works for mixed dietary groups
- Sunday brunch buffet is worth the trip on its own
- Check the bill for an unrequested tip
- Not the venue for a formal, quiet dinner — it stays casual all day
Baccara is part grocery, part bar, and I use it as both. I pick up bread, cheese and something from the butcher counter when I’m hosting, and I sit by the fountain for a glass of cava when I’m not. The deli platter, eaten at the bar, is a proper little meal on its own.
The Golden Hour, 5-8pm daily, is the reason to build an evening around this place — Champagne, Cava, wine, beer and Swedish snacks, and none of it feels like it’s being marked up the way the flashier restaurants nearby do. It’s the calm one in Forum, and I mean that as a compliment.
“The quiet, sensible sibling in Forum. Golden Hour by the fountain is one of my favourite half-hours on the whole Mile.”
— JPLocation & Neighbourhood
What to Order
€20-40pp · €€ · depends on the deli bar vs. a Golden Hour drink
A deli platter from the butcher counter · Golden Hour Cava, 5-8pm
Deli, butcher and market with a Swedish-global outlook — dine in or take home
A relaxed pre-dinner drink by the fountain, or a market stop before you cook at home

Nybakat means “freshly baked” in Swedish, and it’s exactly that — sourdough, croissants, cinnamon buns, all made from scratch. I brought a “Special” Swedish friend of mine here once to get an honest verdict, and she rates the pastries as genuinely top level — proper Swedish quality, not a tourist version of it. Coming from an Italian, that’s saying something, but I’ll say it anyway: the coffee here is excellent. It’s my first stop most mornings I’m at Forum, a cinnamon bun and a seat where nobody’s trying to sell me a rooftop experience.
2 pastries and 2 coffees here rarely tops €15, and I genuinely can’t think of a visit where anything’s gone wrong. If you want Forum without the theatre, this is where I’d send you first.
“When the cinnamon bun hits, it hits hard. Go for breakfast before the plaza fills up.”
— JPLocation & Neighbourhood
What to Order
€8-15pp · € · a pastry and coffee rarely tops €10-12
Cinnamon bun · sourdough loaf to take home · a French croissant with the coffee
Family-owned Swedish bakery and café — everything made from scratch
There’s also a Nerja location if this becomes a habit

Tamra opened at Forum in June 2026, built around a tradition I hadn’t seen done properly anywhere else on the Mile: the date, paired with coffee, as the centre of the whole experience rather than an afterthought on a dessert menu. It’s the first genuinely different idea to land at Forum since it opened — everything else leans Italian, Scandinavian or broadly international, and this is the one concept built entirely around Middle Eastern coffee culture.
I’ve only been a handful of times so far, and I don’t think it’s fair to score it properly yet — a few months isn’t enough to know how it holds up once the novelty wears off. But the pace of the place is right, and it’s worth a stop if you want something genuinely different from the rest of Forum’s lineup.
“Too new to score properly, but it’s the one genuinely original idea in Forum right now. I’ll be back.”
— JPLocation & Neighbourhood
What to Order
€10-20pp (estimated) · € · boutique café pricing
Arabic coffee with a date tasting — the whole café is built around it
Middle Eastern coffee-and-date hospitality, reinterpreted as a boutique café

Practical Tips — Before You Go
-
01
Parking Costs More Than You’d Expect
On-site parking at Forum runs around €8/hour. If I’m just stopping for coffee, I park up the hill and walk down — it’s roughly €2/hour there with the first 45 minutes free.
-
02
Hours
Forum as a whole runs roughly 9am-10pm daily. Individual restaurants keep their own hours on top of that — always worth a quick check before you drive over.
-
03
Location
Forum sits on the N-340A, directly across from Puente Romano, roughly halfway between Marbella town and Puerto Banús — about 5 minutes either way.
-
04
There’s a Dog Fountain
Right by the entrance — a small, genuinely nice touch if you’re bringing a pet. Planta Bistrot in particular is easy with dogs at the table.
-
05
Who Needs a Reservation
Essential: Beast (confirm by phone the day before) and Florentine for dinner and weekends. Worth booking: The Fisherman’s Daughter in the evening, Planta Bistrot for brunch. Walk-in fine: Nybakat, Baccara, Tamra.
-
06
Check Your Bill
I’ve had a tip added before I’d agreed to it more than once across Forum. Tipping isn’t obligatory in Spain — ask for a breakdown if the total looks off.
FAQ — Eating at Forum Marbella
The most common questions about dining at Forum, answered honestly.
Is Forum Marbella expensive?
It ranges hugely. Nybakat and Baccara can be done for €10-20pp. Planta Bistrot sits around €25-40pp. Florentine and The Fisherman’s Daughter run €50-90pp. Beast is the most expensive, with a set menu at €129pp excluding drinks. Pick your venue based on your budget for the night, not just what looks good in photos.
Where’s the best spot for kids or a family visit?
Planta Bistrot — the Sunday brunch buffet has bubble tea and entertainment for kids, and the venue is easy with families and dogs. Nybakat is also a good, low-key stop for a family coffee break.
Is there a dress code?
Nothing formal is enforced, but Florentine and Beast lean smart-casual in practice, especially at night. Nybakat, Baccara and Planta Bistrot are genuinely casual all day.
What’s the best single meal in Forum for the money?
Planta Bistrot for a full meal, Nybakat for coffee and a pastry. Both deliver on price relative to what you get, which isn’t true everywhere in the complex.
Do I need a reservation?
For Florentine and Beast, yes — and for Beast, confirm again by phone close to your date. The Fisherman’s Daughter and Planta Bistrot are safer booked for the evening or weekend brunch. Nybakat, Baccara and Tamra are walk-in.
Is Forum only for tourists, or do locals actually go?
Both — it draws Golden Mile residents, Puente Romano and Marbella Club guests nearby, and visitors. Nybakat, Baccara and Planta Bistrot in particular have a real local following.
JP’s Verdict
Forum is a real addition to the Golden Mile. Just know which restaurants earn their prices, and which are coasting on the setting.
For a coffee run: Nybakat, every time. Add Baccara if I also want something for dinner at home.
For a date night: The Fisherman’s Daughter at the bar, or Florentine for the bigger, louder room — order carefully at Florentine.
For a full, relaxed day: Breakfast at Nybakat, browse Baccara mid-morning, lunch at Planta Bistrot, Golden Hour cava back at Baccara before dinner.
For a splurge night out: Beast, if you book carefully and confirm it yourself — the sushi counter can be genuinely excellent when the kitchen’s on form.
For something new: Tamra. Too early to rate with confidence, but it’s the one idea here that isn’t chasing the same formula as everyone else.

I’m Jean‑Paul Cavalletti. I was born in Italy, which means I grew up understanding that a bad meal is a genuine problem and a good one is worth going out of your way for. I lived in Marbella for 3 years — long enough to watch the Golden Mile evolve and to know exactly which of its shiny new openings deserve the hype. I ate at every venue in this guide myself. No press invites. No free meals. Just honest assessments of where I’d actually send my own family.
