Experience the Culinary Delights at The Grill at the Dorchester
During my recent visit to The Grill at the Dorchester, my wife and I indulged in the two-course dinner set priced at £58 (£29 per person). We were thoroughly impressed with the flavours and considered it a worthwhile investment. Although the haddock could have had a bolder taste, the overall dining experience at The Grill was delightful. For our main courses, I savoured the Seared Cos with Haddock and Caponata, accompanied by mussels, while my wife relished the Roasted Pork Belly with potatoes, onion, and lettuce. Our meal concluded with delectable desserts.
Start with Exceptional Flavours at The Grill
Our culinary journey at The Grill at the Dorchester began with the Amuse-Bouche of Smoked Salmon, expertly prepared with great attention to detail.
Indulge in Sumptuous Main Courses
At The Grill, the Seared Cos with Caponata and Mussel was an intriguing choice; however, the haddock lacked the desired flavour. The caponata, unfortunately, fell short in terms of taste. On the other hand, my wife thoroughly enjoyed the tender and juicy Roasted Pork Belly. A slightly crispier skin would have added textural contrast to the dish.
Rating: 5.5/10 for the Seared Cos, 6/10 for the Roasted Pork Belly
Enjoy Exquisite Wine Pairings at The Grill
For wine enthusiasts, The Grill at the Dorchester offers a curated selection of wines to enhance your dining experience. We selected a robust Spanish wine, Pina Fidelis, with 14% alcohol content. Its acidity beautifully complemented the roasted pork and cheese, resulting in a harmonious fusion of flavours. The impeccable timing was further enhanced by our choice of soufflés as a finale.
Rating: Good value for money at £30
Indulge in Delectable Desserts
To complete our dining experience, we couldn’t resist the temptation of the Pistachio Soufflé with Salted Caramel at The Grill. The pistachio flavor imparted a delightful saltiness, while the combination of sweetness and saltiness in the salted caramel created a perfect harmony. Each mouthful offered alternating flavors, with the soufflé’s warmth and the coolness of the accompanying ice cream creating a truly memorable experience.
Impeccable Service and Elegant Ambiance
At The Grill at the Dorchester, we experienced impeccable service from the friendly and welcoming staff. The restaurant exudes an elegant ambiance with its dim lighting, decadent interiors adorned with mirrors, and contrasting natural materials suchas copper, zinc, and marble. The butterscotch leather seating beautifully complements the oak parquet flooring.
Overall Impression and Ratings
On a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate The Grill at the Dorchester a 3.8 While the dining experience was good and met expectations, the food fell short of being truly spectacular. However, the ambiance, service, and overall setting provided a light and comforting atmosphere. All these factors combined to offer a memorable experience in the heart of London.
Whether you’re a culinary enthusiast or simply looking to indulge in a remarkable dining experience, The Grill at the Dorchester is an excellent choice. With its refined British cuisine, Michelin-star status, and impeccable service, it truly lives up to its reputation as one of London’s finest restaurants.
